Midwest Closed Champion

Congratulations to Robert Cash, Boys 12s Midwest Closed Champion.  Robert, the 12 seed, defeated the number 1 and 2 players in the Midwest in the semis and finals, winning the final 1-6 6-4 6-4 over Julian Hyman.

Robert also won the doubles with Jack Dabek.

Jack also received hardware in singles.  He reached the Consolation Finals and defeated the 6 and 15 seeds.

US Open Qualifier

Kevin Metka, Elaine Cloern and Ashley Thai competed in the Midwest US Open Qualifier last week in Cincinnati.  USTA Midwest article.

Kevin reached the finals in singles, falling to multiple gold ball winner Ronnie Schneider 6-1 6-4.

Elaine Cloern defeated Jerricka Boone, one of the top players in the country.

Ashley reached the semifinals of Mixed Doubles.

Midwest Closed Doubles Champions

Robert Cash and Jack Dabek are the Boys 12s Midwest Closed Doubles Champions.
They defeated #1 seeds Spencer Gray and A.J. Woodman 6-4 6-3 in the Finals in Okemos, Michigan.  They also defeated the 2 seeds 6-0, 6-3.  In the past year they have won Districts, Court One, Midwest Open, National Open and finished 3rd at Spring Nationals.

They are also both competing in the Quarterfinals of Singles tomorrow.

Midwest Closed 16s / 18s

Midwest Team Cup 12s

The Ohio Valley 12s Team won the Midwest Team Cup last weekend.  Robert Cash, Jack Dabek and Sarina Xie all competed for the team coached by Bryan Nibert.
The team defeated Central Indiana in a very close match 5-4 in the semis, and defeated South East Michigan 8-1 in the final.  Robert defeated the #3 player in the Midwest in the Final.

OVTA 10s District Championships

Congratulations to all the 10s who competed in the District Championships last weekend.
Griffin Biernat was the Boys Doubles Champion with Devin Boyer.
Griffin finished 3rd in the Boys Singles.

Maddie Atway and Ella Hazelbaker won the Girls Doubles.
Maddie finished 3rd in the Girls Singles.
Madison Spiess and Ella reached the Consolation Finals in Singles.
Arya Dudipala and Madison reached the Doubles Semifinals.

OVTA Districts Boys 16s

Congratulations to C.J. Cash for reaching the OVTA Boys 16s Doubles Final.  He and Deepak Indrakanti lost 9-7 in the final to John McNally and J.J. Wolf.

OVTA Boys 14s Districts

Congratulations to the boys who competed at the Boys 14s District Championships.
Jonathan Zhuravel and Rohith Koneru reached the Semifinals of the Consolation.
Connor Biernat reached the Quarterfinals of the Consolation.

OVTA Districts Girls 14s

Congratulations to Alex Cash for winning the OVTA Girls 14s Doubles District Championships.
Alex and Amanda Huser defeated the 2 seeds in the Finals 8-4.
Alex also reached the Consolation Finals in Singles.

OVTA Districts Girls 16s

Congratulations to Ashley Tan who won the OVTA Girls 16s District Doubles Championships with Allie Sanford.
Ashley reached the semifinals of Singles.
Olivia Kompa reached the Consolation Semifinals in Singles.

OVTA Districts Girls 12s

Congratulations to Paige Kompa and Sarina Xie for reaching the Finals of the 12s OVTA District Doubles Championship.  They lost 9-7 in the final.
Paige also reached the Consolation Finals in singles.  Sarina reached the Consolation Semifinals.

OVTA Districts Boys 12s

Congratulations to Boys 12s OVTA District Singles and Doubles Champion Robert Cash.  He defeated the #2 player in the Midwest in the Semis.
Congratulations to Jack Dabek, who won the doubles with Robert for the 2nd straight year.
Jack reached the Finals of the Consolation in Singles.
Griffin Biernat reached the Quarterfinals of the Consolation in Singles, qualifying for the Midwest Closed.

GCTA Qualifier Girls 16s / 18s

Congratulations to Ashley Tan and Olivia Kompa for reaching the semifinals of the 16s Area Qualifier.  Ashley was a finalist and Olivia finished 4th.

Ashley Thai was a semifinalist and finished 4th in the Girls 18s Qualifier.

Division I State Doubles Champion

Jeffrey Melvin and Nate Wallace (Upper Arlington) won the Division I Doubles State Championship.  They defeated Deepak Indrakanti and Dylan Stern from Cincinnati Sycamore in the Finals 3-6 7-5 6-3, battling back from down a set and a break.  They will also play tomorrow in the Final Four of the OTCA State Team Championships.
