18s Adv Team Tennis Nationals

The 18s Advanced team competed and got 5th place at Junior Team Tennis Nationals in Orlando, Florida at the USTA National Campus.  The team coached by Mike Kathary consisted of Jordan Phelps, Jack Dabek, Stu Brdicka, Colten Clark, Nikhitha Bhimireddy, Lalassa Nagireddy, and Paige Kompa.  Alex Cash, Kathleen Jones, Katherine Wang, and Jonathan Zhuravel were also on the team, but unable to go.




They swept Hawaii in the 1st match, with Nikhi and Paige winning in a 3rd set tiebreaker.  The 2nd round, they fell to the National finalists Nor Cal, with strong showings by Boys Doubles (Jordan / Colten) going 3 sets, and Mixed Doubles (Paige / Jack) going 3 sets.  After a long rain delay, they defeated Middle States, 56 - 18 to earn a spot to play for 5th through 8th.



Their next match was pushed until Sunday, where they defeated Tennessee in their closest match of the weekend 44 - 38.  They were down 9 games going into Boys Doubles and Mixed Doubles.  Paige and Stu won 6-1 6-1 and Jordan / Colten won 6-5 6-2 to get the win.
