18s Adv National Finalists

Congratulations to the 18s Adv RCC team, who reached the Finals of the National Junior Team Tennis Championships last weekend at the USTA National Campus in Florida.  They were defeated in the Finals by Austin Tennis Academy.  This is the 3rd RCC team who has finished 2nd at Nationals, and is the best result by an 18s Advanced team.  The team coached by Zack Schwenning was made up of Sam Routzahn, Paige Kompa, Alex Heiden, Griffin Biernat, Zoey Weil and Maddie Atway.

The girls were undefeated in play going into the finals.  Paige was playing at JTT Nationals for the 6th time, and also has made 3 trips to WTT Junior Nationals.  In the 1st match, Alex Heiden came back from 2-7 in the 3rd set breaker to win 11-9.  Griffin came back from down a set in a heated singles match to win 10-2 in the breaker.

Girls doubles dominated in the finals, but the team was outplayed by perennial power ATA.
