Team Tennis Districts

RCC sent 6 teams to OVTA Team Tennis Districts Last Week in Wilmington.
Districts Champions included 12s Int, 14s Int and 18s Int, with 14s winning in a Match Tiebreaker of mixed doubles.
18s Adv RCC2 finished 2nd and 18s Int Rcc2 finished 3rd.

Next weekend is the Midwest Championships.

National Clay Courts / Midwest Open

Connor Biernat made the semifinals of the Boys 16s Midwest Open in Oberlin yesterday.  He beat the 4 and the 8 seeds before losing close 6-4 7-6 to the 1 seed Denali Kitayama.  He plays for 3rd today.
Last week Connor competed at the Boys 16s National Clay Courts in Delray Beach.  He and Grant Wendell reached the Round of 32 in Doubles.  Jacob Wareti competed at the Boys 18s Clays.  In singles, Jacob won a round in the front draw and a round in the backdraw.

National Clay Courts

Alex Cash of New Albany competed at the Girls 16s National Clay Courts at Virginia Beach.  She came back from 2-5 down in the 2nd set to defeat Isabelle Da Silva (New Jersey) 6-4 7-5.  She lost in the next round to Emily Ory, the #3 player from Louisiana.
Her brother Robert got to the quarterfinals of doubles at the National Clay Courts with Nathan Jose, losing 10-8 in a match breaker.  They defeated the 2 seeds.
Her oldest brother C.J. is going to play tennis at Loyola University in Maryland in the fall.

Alex won 3 rounds of singles and a round of doubles at the Girls 18s Midwest Open last weekend.

Midwest Closed 10s

Congratulations to the Boys who competed last weekend at the Midwest Closed 10s Championships in Greenwood, Indiana.
Bryce Page, Reece Page, Dean Atway and Pavan Uppu all won matches at the tournament.  Congratulations to Pavan for making the finals.

Zonals

Congratulations to Maddie Atway, whose team got to the finals of the 12s USTA Zone Team Championships in Ashton, PA.  She went 8-2 and was undefeated after the 1st day, coming back to win in 3 sets in singles in the final.  Her team tied after singles and lost the Mixed Doubles tiebraker.

Congratulations to Connor Biernat and Coach Tyler Stephen.  Connor competed in the 16s at Oklahoma City and his team got 5th.  Tyler coached his team to the Finals, in which they lost close.

Midwest Closed Champion

Congratulations to Robert Cash for winning Midwest Closed Boys 14s Singles in addition to winning the Doubles.  He defeated Cole Shoults in the final 6-4 6-3 in a rematch of the 14s Team Cup Finals.
Robert saved match points in the quarters defeating Reed Crocker 4-6 6-1 7-5.

Midwest Level 3 Deadline Today

The Deadline to sign up for the Midwest Level 3 Tournament is tonight (July 2nd).  The tournament is July 11 - 13.
